AI project sourcing for lending and credit
Helping lenders and private credit firms decide how to source each AI project: buy it, build on a platform, build from scratch, or drop it.
Context
Advisory alongside a small firm that runs AI portfolio decisions as a service, 2026.
My role
Lending and credit domain lead.
The problem
Mid-market lenders and private credit firms now weigh 20 to 40 AI projects a year, and few have anyone who owns the choice.
What I did
- Lending market analysis by segment
- Vendor mapping across the lending workflow
- A sourcing framework: buy, platform, build, or drop
What I took from it
Firms often record a platform purchase as a finished solution. The last-mile build, which carries the firm's own credit judgment, then never happens.
